Warm & Muggy, Thunderstorms Tonight

Today:

Highs in the middle 80s with partly cloudy skies. Winds strong out of the south around 10-20 mph. It’ll feel muggy this afternoon with dew points sitting mid-60s. Heat index values could reach near 88°. Welcome to summer!

Tonight:

***Slight Risk*** for severe weather is placed just north of I-80 and the threat for isolated strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible through the overnight hours.

***Marginal Risk*** for severe weather has been positioned in the I-80 / I-74 corridor including Peoria & Bloomington-Normal. I’m not expecting widespread severe weather this evening, however, several cells could be on the strong side.

Storms will begin to develop along a frontal boundary late this evening around 8-10 p.m to the north of I-80.

Scattered thunderstorm chances will remain in the forecast through the early morning Friday.

Chances for thunderstorms still remain through the weekend and into early next week.
