Monmouth man arrested for making terrorist threats

MONMOUTH, Ill. (WEEK) — A Monmouth man is in the Warren County jail, after allegedly making terrorist threats.

Monmouth police say they were called to the 1,000 block of West First Avenue around 9:45 PM Friday night, after a man was allegedly expressing threats that involved homemade explosive devices.

Officers later made contact with the man, identified by police as 41-year-old Brian Sage, who threatened officers with a road flare, and additional flammable materials.

Sage was later subdued by police, and was taken into custody.

Monmouth Police say he is charged with making terrorist threats, possession of methamphetamine, aggravated assault, and resisting arrest.

No further information has been released about the incident at this time.
