POLICE: Truck driver cited, 10 passengers and 1 driver injured in I-155 crash near Delavan

UPDATE (5:50 P.M.) — The driver of the truck tractor trailer, Daniel Fitzgibbons, 39, of Dubuque, Iowa, was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and aggravated use of an electronic communication device when involved in an accident that results in great bodily harm, according to an Illinois State Police press release.


UPDATE (12 P.M.) — The Illinois State Police said 10 of the 29 passengers of the charter bus were transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, as well as the driver of the truck tractor trailer.

According to the release by the ISP, the crash happened just after 10 a.m. on northbound I-155 near Delavan, when the truck struck the rear of the charter bus.

I-155 is still closed as of noon Monday.


TAZEWELL COUNTY (WEEK) — A crash on northbound Interstate 155 near Delavan Monday morning has blocked both lanes, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation

The crash happened around 10 a.m. Monday near Delavan, involving a truck tractor trailer and a bus.

Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley said the crash may have resulted in multiple injuries.

No deaths have been reported, said Hanley.
