Suspect in Peoria standoff charged

PEORIA (WEEK) — A man accused of a standoff with Peoria Police has been charged in Peoria County court.

Talya Zolicoffer, 39, was arrested Wednesday, September 11, for allegedly holding a woman against her will at a house on the South Side.

Friday, Zolicoffer was officially charged with one count of domestic battery and one count of unlawful restraint, both listed as Class 4 Felonies.

Zolicoffer has a criminal record dating back to 1998.

Most recently, he was arrested for failure to appear in court and domestic battery.

Wednesday’s standoff began around 11:30 AM in the 1800 block of W. Kettelle, when police were called on a report of a woman being held against her will and beaten for a period of time. Police say the caller claimed the suspect was armed.

The incident ended before 2:00 PM.

Zolicoffer is being held at the Peoria County Jail on $25,000 bond.

He is due back in court on October 10th for arraignment.
