PEORIA HEIGHTS (WEEK) – The new performing arts center in Peoria Heights is officially open with a ribbon cutting held on a significant night for the developer.

The Betty Jayne Brimmer Center for the Performing Arts is named after Kim Blickenstaff’s late mother. Betty Jayne would have turned 100-years-old today.

On Thursday night, people gathered for drinks and live music as they embraced the finished product of the $2 million renovation.

“It’s beautiful, people want to come here on a warm summer night and do what we call euro loafing. Where you sit around like you’re in Europe and loaf on the street. So I think that’s a great word,” said Blickenstaff.

The renovation of the old library took about eight months and now welcomes music, lectures, comedy and other performances, among other private events.

You can find the Betty Jayne center at 1327 East Kelly Ave in Peoria Heights.
