A.J. Guyton named Director of Athletics for Peoria Public Schools

PEORIA (WEEK) — Peoria Public Schools announced A.J. Guyton as District 150’s new Athletic Director.

The district described Guyton as a local basketball legend. He is a PPS alumnus and played basketball at Indiana University and went on to the Chicago Bulls. The district also said he has, “served in a number of basketball coaching capacities, and also spent time as the diversity and retention coordinator for Illinois Central College.”

The district said his first priority will be enhancing athletics in the primary and middle schools. In a press release, Guyton said, “I’d like to thank Dr. Kherat for the opportunity and can’t wait to add to all of the positive things she has accomplished to date,” Guyton said. “It’s a dream of mine to come back to Peoria to continue with the work being done and add my expertise in the area of athletics.
