‘How-To Festival’ educates and entertains at Bloomington Public Library

If you’ve ever wanted to play the ukulele or salsa dance or use a 3-D printer then you were in luck Saturday afternoon. From 10:00 to 1:00 the Bloomington Public Library held their first ever event teaching kids and adults alike various skills. Volunteers and organizations from the community offered tutorials and lessons on everything from playing instruments, to making butter, cookie decorating, wood carving, composting, gardening, befriending hummingbirds and other various skills.

Librarian Katie Gandhi said she had seen the How-To concept done in other places and wanted to bring it to Bloomington. “It’s a chance to showcase a lot of the local groups and organizations in Bloomington. But also a way people can learn something new,” said Gandhi.

More than fifty sessions were held during the three-hour festival. For more information you can check out the Bloomington Public Library website.
