A federal judge is ordering the town of Normal and several artists to hash out a disagreement over the uptown mural.
Wednesday, the judge denied the artists’ request for a temporary restraining order to stop the demolition of the building that bears the mural.
That demolition is scheduled to happen in July, but the town has promised to give a week’s notice before it begins.
Thirteen of the artists who created the mural are currently suing Normal to keep the mural intact, claiming demolition would violate their copyright.
The town has offered to move the mural wall to another location, a project which would cost about $100,000.
There will be another private hearing on June 19th.
