Convicted Bartonville sexual predator arrested on child porn charges

BARTONVILLE, Ill. (WEEK) — A convicted sexual predator was arrested Wednesday after child pornography was found on his phone.

Bartonville Police Chief Brian Fengel said John J. Niemeyer, 27, panicked and slit his wrists after a supposed “FBI warning” popped up on his phone.

Fengel said Niemeyer handed over his phone to police responding to the scene. A forensic analysis of the device uncovered child porn.

Niemeyer was registered as a sexual predator after he was convicted of the sexual assault of a five-year-old in Henry County. He was 14 at the time of the offense.
