EAST PEORIA, Ill. (WEEK) — If great home cooking at an affordable price, sounds good to you we’ve got you covered in this weeks “You Gotta Eat..”
I found a place in East Peoria were the portions are big and the prices are small.
It’s breakfast time at June Bug’s Diner. Check out these huge breakfast plates these guys are about to dig into.
That’s what keep customers like Robyn MacDonald and her family coming back to June Bug’s again and again.
“My favorite is the scrambled eggs with cheese. Even two scrambled eggs it’s always a nice big amount and she’s not stingy with the cheese,” said MacDonald.
“My food is good. The gravy and biscuits are wonderful. They like that. Biscuits and gravy and they do get a good portion and I sell a lot of them,” said owner June Underwood.
June’s been feeding customers here for nearly eight years and they love her.
June has been whipping up home-cooked meals for a long time, and everybody has their favorites.
“Poached eggs and whole wheat toast,” said customer Bob MacDonald.
This beautiful duo liked the “one, one, one” breakfast deal. That’s where you get one meat choice, toast, coffee and eggs for only four bucks.
“One, one, one is what it’s called, and it’s like a senior special. You can’t beat it,” said customer Shirley Klasing.
Check out some of the newspaper clippings highlighting June Bug’s Diner. The article boasts that the restaurant offers “comfort on a plate, ” and her customers would agree.
When it was my time to order I couldn’t make up my mind between the homemade meatloaf meal or the homemade chicken pot pie.
So I did what anyone in my position would do…and that’s order both. The pot pie was hot, full of chicken and vegetables and very tasty.
