CHILLICOTHE, Ill. (WEEK) — It’s a place hunters, archers and fishermen go to for reliable service, but it’s also a place where they can sit down and enjoy a hot cooked meal.
Talk about hitting the spot!
That’s what the owners of Wolf Hollow Archery in Chillicothe did when they came up with this concept.
An all-day restaurant with an indoor archery range and a fully stocked store for hunters, archers and fishermen to stock up on every type of gear and accessories they may need to make that big kill.
“I just wanted to diversify a little bit more, have the restaurant, pool, bar, food, get it all going,” said owner Larry Pollack.
He and his wife started this archery business in Chillicothe about 4 years ago.
While business was good, it wasn’t until they added the restaurant when things became great! But some changes had to be made first.
“It used to be a bowling alley,” said customer Ron Lady. “It was a bowling alley years ago. They turned it into an archery, restaurant and they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.” :
“There’s been revisions, changes here and there, and as time goes on, it’s turned into quite the popular spot,” said customer Kenneth Cook.
Not only is it a popular spot for hunters and archers, but also for customers like Lady, who has an appetite for fresh cooked eggs.
“I like the cheese omelet with pepper jack cheese and hash browns and toast,” said Lady.
Cook is another regular customer.
He likes the biscuits and gravy here, but while he can skip on the biscuits every now and then there’s one thing he won’t give up.
“The gravy goes big with me. I think I grew up with a gravy spoon in my hand. I like gravy on just about everything,” he said.
When it was my turn to order, i choose the steak and eggs with hash browns and buttered toast.
The steak was tender, and when i added some A1 steak sauce to it…oooo-la-la!
So what did this king sized breakfast cost me? $16.15.
“So the next time you’re in Chillicothe, stop by Wolf Hollow Archery because “You Gotta Eat.”
