BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WEEK) — A Normal woman faces murder charges in connection with the January death of an 8-year-old.
Cynthia Marie Baker, 41, was indicted Wednesday by a McLean County grand jury on three counts of murder, one count of aggravated battery of a child, and one count of aggravated domestic batter in connection with the January 26 death of the 8-year-old.
The child was transported from Normal to Peoria for medical care on Jan. 25, and died the day after. Baker was arrested following the grand jury indictment.
The indictment alleges Baker kicked the child with the intention to do great bodily harm. The child’s intestines were breached. The child was a member of Baker’s household or family.
If sentenced on all charges, Baker could face between 69 to 217 years in prison.
