Police: Woman spiked Illinois state trooper’s drink

SCHUYLER COUNTY, Ill. (WEEK) — A Beardstown woman reportedly spiked an Illinois State Trooper’s sports drink with an unknown substance during a meth bust in Schuyler County on Tuesday.

State Police said a trooper pulled over a vehicle near the intersection of U.S. 67 and Illinois Route 100, near Meredosia. Police said the trooper observed “indications of criminal activity” and separated the two occupants of the vehicle, Valeria Martinez, 45; and Kevin Weinmann, 27, both of Beardstown.

Meth was found during a search, police said. Both were arrested and taken to the Schuyler County Jail. During the investigation, it was found someone had also spiked the trooper’s drink in his squad car.

Both Martinez and Weinmann face numerous drug charges. Martinez also faces charges of aggravated battery against a police officer.

Bond for Martinez is set at $250,000. Bond for Weinmann was set at $100,000.
