PONTIAC, Ill. (WEEK) — We first introduced you to Nathan Joerndt last month when Walmart changed job requirements for his position.
Because of certain limitations due to a rare condition, he said he couldn’t meet those new requirements.
But the community rallied behind him, and together, they’ve been fighting to get the corporation to keep his job.
On Thursday he returned to the job he loves…this time, as a self check-out clerk.
“I got to see a lot of my friends, and they were very happy I was at work today, and so, yeah, it was a pretty darn good day!” said Nathan.
Joerndt’s story was one of many that popped up across the country following Walmart’s announcement it was eliminating the greeter position. But his case generated so much feedback from the community that regional managers actually came to visit him in person on Wednesday and apologize.
