GRUNDY COUNTY, Ill. (WEEK) — An East Peoria truck driver was involved in a semi versus pedestrian crash on Interstate 80 in northern Illinois.
The Illinois State Police said John Lovell, 45, of East Peoria was headed west on Interstate 80 near Morris just before noon when his semi struck a pedestrian in the lane of traffic.
The man, Jacob Perry, 27, of Morris, was pronounced dead at the scene. Grundy County Coroner John Callahan said Perry parked his car on the shoulder of the road and then attempted to run across the lanes of traffic on the interstate.
No charges were filed in the incident. The crash is under investigation by the Illinois State Police and Grundy County Coroner’s Office.
