UPDATE: Deceased suspect, victim in South Peoria shooting identified

PEORIA, Ill. (WEEK) — Two people are dead after a home invasion Thursday morning in South Peoria.

A woman at 1211 W. John Gwynn Jr. Ave. called police just before 7 a.m. to report a man with a gun entered the home and began firing.

When police arrived, a victim was trying to escape off the roof. The woman who called escaped the home.

Police entering the home found an adult woman dead, and an adult man with a gunshot wound. The man was taken to the hospital, where he later died. Police said the man who died at the hospital was the suspect.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood identified the suspect as David Jenkins, 39, of Peoria. Harwood identified the woman as 30-year-old Kayla Fannon, also of Peoria.

The relationships between the four people involved are unknown.

Peoria Police Officer Amy Dotson said police did not fire their weapons in the incident.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood is investigating.
