PEKIN, Ill. (WEEK) — As the federal government shutdown hits its 27th day — bring on the free pizza.
Two P’s in Pekin started giving staffers at the nearby federal prison a free pizza lunch on Friday, and now owners say they plan to make it a weekly event.
Prison staff that come in for lunch can get a free 7-inch pizza and drink, and Two P’s will deliver for the workers that can’t get away.
“We’ll do it for as long as they can stand eating pizza. It’s pretty amazing pizza, but if it’s shut down for a while they’re probably going to get tired of it,” said co-owner Tim Mucciante.
This week ownership at another local business, Brady Carpet Cleaning, said they’ll reimburse Two P’s for the cost of that pizza.
