DuPont laying off 33 from El Paso plant

EL PASO, Ill. (WEEK) — A Woodford County chemical plant is laying off 33 employees this February.

The DuPont facility at 2830 U.S. Highway 24 will lay off 33 workers by the end of next month. The notice was published in a report issued by the Illinois Department of Employment Security.

The Pantagraph reports DuPont intends to keep the facility open with the remaining employees. A spokeswoman for the company told the paper DuPont is undergoing “integration actions” as the company prepares to go public on the stock exchange.

The layoffs mark another economic blow for the area. 115 people lost their jobs when the Kerry cereal plant announced its closure in nearby Gridley last month.
