Lincoln officer struck by vehicle before Christmas parade

A Lincoln police officer is expected to return to work shortly after he was hit by a vehicle while closing streets for the city’s Christmas Parade.

Officer Chad Eimer was hit while in the intersection of Broadway and Chicago on Thursday just before 6:15 p.m. Eimer was taken to a Springfield hospital and later released.

Eimer was first hired by the police department in 2014. The Logan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
