Volunteers from Washington, Normal help Taylorville clean up after tornado

Washington Park District employees know what its like to clean up after a tornado, and were willing to make the trip to help another community starting on their road to recovery.

The Washington Park District and Town of Normal Parks and Recreation Department made the trip to Taylorville, about a half-hour southeast of Springfield, after the city was struck by an EF-3 tornado on Saturday.

Employees from the two park districts helped clean up downed trees and picked up debris from the dugout, grandstand roof and concessions stand at the city’s baseball field.
