America celebrates the life of George H.W. Bush

The nation and the world say their final goodbyes to the 41st President of the United States.

George H.W. Bush is being honored at a state funeral in Washington this morning.

It’s a somber day in Washington as presidents, politicians, and foreign dignitaries gather at the National Cathedral to say goodbye to one of their own.

President Trump was one of the guests in attendance, despite tensions with the Bush family. Bush made clear before his death that he wanted to invite the current president to the state funeral, putting aside personal differences and following protocol.

He felt the weight of responsibility as a nearly physical burden,” said Jon Meacham, presidential historian and author.

And though he was a man who dedicated his life to serving his country, George H.W. Bush was remembered by his family simply as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Today’s memorial service embodied the spirit of George Herbert Walker Bush… War hero… Congressman… Statesman… And 41st President of the United States.
