BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WEEK) — State Rep. Tom Bennett is out of the hospital and working from home after he broke several ribs in a car accident last week.
After leaving session in Springfield last Thursday, Bennett said he attended a Chamber dinner in Pontiac. Bennett said he got into an accident on the Weston Blacktop in rural McLean County while returning home to Gibson City.
“I have some broken ribs, but the doctors are telling me I should recover over the next few weeks, and I was glad to be out of the hospital and starting to do some work from home,” said Bennett in a recorded message to constituents. “I’m so grateful to the first responders who assisted me at the crash scene, and the doctors and nurses at the OSF HealthCare St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington who have been helping me to recover.”
Bennett, a Republican, said he expects to return back to work in the General Assembly soon.
Bennett represents the 106th Legislative District, which includes Eureka, Minonk, and Pontiac.
