PEORIA (WEEK) — After further investigations, Peoria Police have stated that a robbery incident that occurred on North University took place at a different location — the 3400 block of North Hedgehill.
Peoria Police spokesperson Amy Dotson said the victim told officers, during investigations, he was robbed in the 3400 block of North Hedgehill after agreeing to meet someone. The victim told police the suspect pointed a gun at the victim and fled the area with an undisclosed amount of money and a cellphone belonging to the victim, as well as being punched.
Police were called at 3:04 p.m. July 5 to the 3400 block of North University for a report of an armed robbery. Dotson said additional officers arrived at the scene and canvassed the area for suspects but did not find any results.
During this investigation, officers determined the robbery did not take place on North University.
When officers arrived at the scene July 5, the victim told police he was robbed by a group of people when he was pulling away from an ATM in the 3400 block of North University. The victim said his vehicle was surrounded by four males when he was robbed at gunpoint and had cash and a cellphone stolen.
The incident is still under investigation.
