RiverFront Market kicks off despite flooding

The Peoria RiverFront Market kicked off its 2019 season on Saturday.

The annual market will run from 8 a.m. to noon every Saturday until the end of September.

Due to the flooding impacting the RiverFront it was held on the corner of Water Street and Hamilton Street.

Some local vendors were concerned the change would impact attendance.

“You’re shifting out of a location that everybody is used to going to on a Saturday morning, the same spot every Saturday and then they move the market and you’re not sure if people will find the right parking if they’ll be able to find the market you know? So far, so good,” Garden Spot Vegetable Farm owner Jim Buckley said.

The market will return to its regular location on the RiverFront once the water recedes.
