In an effort to create a circle of support several local organizations collaborated to observe National Crime Victim’s Rights Week.

The meeting was held at South Side Mission on Saturday afternoon to raise awareness about crime victims’ rights and services while standing in solidarity with those families, neighbors, and friends who have been altered by crime.

Peoria Community Against Violence (PCAV) collaborated with Peoria City and Peoria County police to take a stand especially in light of this weeks homicide.

“Bring some calm to Peoria. You know, there was an event — earlier this week, there was a crisis, someone lost their life. So, we just trying to talk about what can we do to make a difference,” PCAV Treasurer Bobby Ford said.

Ford said PCAV will begin canvassing neighborhoods to provide information on resources for people who may find themselves in traumatic situations.
