Members of AFSCME held rallied Wednesday, at the intersection of W. College ave. and S. School st. in Normal.
They are office support, housing, student health care, building services, grounds maintenance and campus dining workers at Illinois State.
Their current deal expired June 30, so they’re after a new contract, with a raise.
“They’re frustrated. They want to move forward. And so it made it easy for them to want to come out. And we had student support, and staff and faculty out here with us today as well,” said union spokeperson Renee Nestler.”Our contracts are being violated more often. In some cases, they’re disregarded. So, and there has been some changes in administration.”
An ISU spokesperson tells 25News they now have two bargaining talks set over the next two weeks, their first since February.
