A badge pinning ceremony was held Monday for two men moving up the ladder with the Peoria Fire Department.

Tony Ardis is now the assistant chief. Jim Bachman has the title of division chief. They joined the force together 24 years ago, and say there’s still a lot to do for the people of the city.

“We have a lot of things changing… redoing all of our maps due to the closure of two machines,” said Ardis. “So we will not be short of work.”

In order to cut down on the city’s $6 million budget deficit, the department will lose 18 positions.
