Hello, my name is John Kendall. I am the current senior morning show producer at 25 News. I joined the 25 News staff in November of 2011, as an associate producer. Since then, I have done about everything here at the station, including producing HOI News Daybreak for nearly two and a half years, and 25 News Today for a year and a half.
I grew up in the small town of Granville, Illinois. That is located just about an hour north of Peoria, in Putnam County.
My journalism career started when I was a little kid. I grew up watching this station, and always wanted to be a weatherman. I even got a chance to impress former weatherman Jim Barnett during the Kids Nowadays Festival in 1994, that he let me do a second tape with him. Since then, it was always news, weather, or sports that I have been interested in. That passion has always been there.
I worked for the school newspaper in Junior High, High School, and college. I also worked for my high school and collegiate TV stations, where I won numerous awards.
It has been an honor and pleasure to work for my hometown TV station, and work alongside, and gain the respect from co-workers who I grew up admiring. While the job is challenging, especially during breaking news, there is the great reward that continues to drive me to this day. That is being the person someone at home relies on to bring them all the details, so at the end of the day, or at the beginning of their day, they know what is going on at home, and across the world.
My work is my life, but when I am not at the station, I enjoy hanging out with friends, catching up on sleep, watching Blackhawks and Rivermen hockey, and Peoria Chiefs baseball.
Feel free to drop me an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have a story idea. I will pass them along to our assignment manager.
