Peoria (WEEK) — A business is claiming the State Farm building in Bloomington as their headquarters, and the Better Business Bureau of Central Illinois says it’s a scam.

Ship2Fast claims to offer work-from-home employment for a gift-wrapping service. Packages would be shipped to their workers. They would then inspect them and re-ship them to a different location. The website says they would be paid monthly.

“What they’re actually doing is being part of a much larger scam,” Jessica Tharp with BBB says. “Credit card numbers are stolen, goods are purchased and sent to these individuals believed to be working from home. Then, they’re repackaged and shipped off to some other location, usually outside the country.”

She also says two people have called their office complaining they haven’t been paid, and around 100 people have inquired about Ship2Fast in general.

Her advice is to do your homework when looking for employment. In this case, looking up the address unraveled the plot. Their headquarters, listed as 112 E Washington St in Bloomington, is the old State Farm building set to be demolished.

We’ve reached out to Bloomington Police to ask if they’re aware of the scam and if they can do anything about it. We’ll update the story if we hear back.
