The Memphis to Peoria runners boarded buses this morning headed for Tennessee.
When they get there,.they’ll turn around and start running until they arrive back at the Peoria Civic Center during the St. Jude Telethon.
It’s an emotional moment for both those watching and participating.
“Every year you meet new runners, and it rekindles that fire for why you first started,” said Gene Jones, an avid St. Jude runner and longtime cross country coach at Metamora high.
In addition to being an impressive physical feat, it’s an incredible fundraiser for St. Jude, attracting veterans and newbies year after year.
It’s an incredible night dedicated to helping kids and families fighting cancer.
The 42nd annual St. Jude telethon is this Saturday, August 3 on WEEK from 6:30 p-m to midnight.
