Residents in the Twin Cities are calling for a change to Connect Transit’s Board of Trustees amid the board’s decisions to raise fares and remove their Olive Route.

Citizens to Support Fair Transit gathered at City Hall in Uptown Normal on Monday to make their voices heard.

They called for the Town Council members to hear their concerns regarding the board and to change the bylaws so a board can be appointed that is representative of the ridership.

“We’d like to see people that represent the ridership, someone with disabilities, people that have been only dependent on transit in the past,” Normal Township Supervisor Sarah Grammer said.

Grammer said the Normal Town Council has restrictive guidelines on public comment which led them to protest in front of city hall.
