WOODSTOCK, Ill. (CNN) — Friends, family members and fellow officers have bid their final goodbye to an Illinois deputy killed in the line of duty.
Hundreds of people honored Deputy Jacob Keltner at a funeral ceremony in Woodstock Wednesday.
The McHenry County deputy was killed by a fugitive he was trying to arrest last week in Rockford.
That fugitive, Floyd Brown, is now facing murder charges.
A retired county sheriff said Keltner was willing to die for others, just like other law enforcement officers do.
The 35-year-old deputy leaves behind a wife and two young sons.
