New Peoria, Normal autism centers open

Gorbold Behavioral Consulting has opened new autism centers in Peoria and Normal to replace the Autism Services Group facility that closed last month.

Stephanie Gorbold, the company’s founder and president, says the new GBC ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) facilities are open now and taking clients. They have 15 employees between the two locations – some of whom used to work at ASG – and hope to add 30 more by the end of the year. They hope to have 75 clients by then as well.

Gorbold says her company was planning to expand to Central Illinois by the end of 2019, but moved fast when they saw ASG was leaving, which meant their clients had nowhere to turn.

“We wanted to come down so there wasn’t a huge gap in services,” Gorbold said. “The other providers have wait lists and it’s just hard to get services.”

She says GBC ABA offers behavioral therapy for autistic kids, clinic and in-home services, and hope to offer diagnostic and speech work as well.
