Child abuse charges dropped against former Bloomington pastor in civil court

Child abuse charges have been dropped against a former Twin Cities pastor, but only in civil court.

Matthew Everly was charged last May with seriously injuring his infant daughter. The little girl suffered two broken legs and a broken arm.

According to the Pantagraph, abuse and neglect charges have been dropped by the state. That allows Everly to reunite with his family while he challenges the criminal charges he’s still facing.

Everly had been an associate pastor of worship at Eastview Christian Church in Normal. He’s denied the allegations against him.

His bench trial is scheduled for December 20.
