Londrigan congratulates Davis on IL-13 win

Democrat Betsy Dirksen Londrigan is conceding to Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Taylorville) in the close race for the 13th Congressional District.

“This afternoon, I called Congressman Rodney Davis and congratulated him on his win,” said Londrigan. “While this outcome was not the one we had hoped for, it has been one of the greatest honors of my life to spend the last 16 months in this race. I put over 60,000 miles on my car, traveling across Central Illinois and meeting with thousands of hard working people. We focused on issues that matter most to our neighbors and communities — like access to quality and affordable health care and protections for those with pre-existing conditions.”

Davis declared victory on Tuesday night. The Associated Press gave the edge to Davis, 51 percent to 49 percent.

“Reps. Mike Bost and Rodney Davis have fought hard for Illinois voters, guiding the state’s unemployment to its best shape in nearly 20 years. The Land of Lincoln is thrilled to send Bost and Davis back to Congress for another term,” said Republican National Committee spokesperson Kevin Knoth.

The 13th Congressional District runs from Bloomington-Normal to Champaign-Urbana, parts of Springfield and the Illinois suburbs of St. Louis.
