IWU senior announces bid for McLean County Board; Robustelli announces departure

BLOOMINGTON. (WEEK) – A Democrat on the McLean County Board says he won’t run for re-election next year.

Carlo Robustelli has represented District 8 since 2013. In a Facebook post Wednesday, Robustelli said it’s important to know when to step aside and make room for new voices. The Bloomington resident says he looks forward to supporting a fellow resident for election to the board.

Robustelli is currently the Assistant Vice President for Advancement at Illinois Wesleyan University. His term on the McLean County Board ends in November 2020.

Meanwhile, an Illinois Wesleyan senior has formally announced his bid for the District 8 seat. Jordan Baker is the current President of the Illinois Wesleyan College Republicans.

Baker says his top priorities will be introducing himself to every person in the district and listening to their concerns. He plans to run his campaign on transparency with constituents and a pragmatic approach to local issues.
