UPDATE (2:25 P.M.) — Peoria Police Department spokesperson Amy Dotson said a suspect has been arrested in the incident in Peoria’s south side that came to an end just before 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Police were called at 11:30 a.m. to the 1800 block of West Kettelle when a woman called about a female being held against her will and beaten for a period of time, said Dotson. The caller also noted the suspect was potentially armed.
The female was transported to an area hospital for injuries.
When police arrived on scene, negotiators were able to make contact with the suspect through a phone call, who made threatening statements and disconnected the call, Dotson said.
The first male arrested at the scene approached the residence and attempted to intervene and refused to leave. The second male, who is the suspect, said Dotson, was arrested without incident after he exited the residence.
A third male was not involved with the situation and released at the scene, Dotson said.
Dotson said the investigation is ongoing and involving domestic battery and unlawful restraint.
UPDATE (1:35 P.M.) — Two suspects in a situation on Peoria’s south side have been taken into custody.
The two allegedly held a female victim hostage in the residence for three days, according to a person claiming to be the victim’s sister.
The victim’s sister, who requested to remain anonymous, told WEEK one of the suspects was the father of the victim’s children. She said the children were not at the residence at the time.
She went to the residence Wednesday to check on her sister who she said was missing for three days. After seeing her inside the residence, the victim’s sister told us she called 911, which brought the police presence.
PEORIA (WEEK) — Peoria police and AMT are on scene of a situation in the city’s south side Wednesday afternoon.
Police officers have the area taped off in the 1800 block of Kettelle Street.
No information has been provided by police on scene, but about 30 officers are in the area.
