Normal police respond to two incidents involving a firearm

NORMAL (WEEK) — According to a release by the Normal Police Department, at about 8:35 p.m., officers were called to the 700 block of South Golfcrest for a report of shots fired. Once on scene, officers located a vehicle in a parking lot with evidence of multiple rounds striking it.

An earlier investigation revealed two men were inside the vehicle when the rounds were fired by a suspect outside the vehicle. Damage from gunfire was also found on an occupied apartment complex. No injuries were reported.

In a separate release from the Normal police, officers responded to the 200 block of South Linden at about 9 p.m. July 28 for an armed robbery.

Officers found a male victim cab driver who said he was robbed at gunpoint and struck multiple times. Police are seeking two suspects, both black males believed to be in their 20s.

One suspect displayed a handgun and demanded money from the victim.

The victim was able to escape to safety as the suspects fled the area on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to the report.
