Normal Fire Department rescues person from house fire

Normal firefighters rescued someone from a house fire on Baugh Dr. Wednesday afternoon. The Normal Fire Department said it happened just before 3:30 p.m. when they said a passerby called 911 to report smoke coming from the house.

Firefighters went in the home right away to search the residence for anyone still inside.

While firefighters went through the front door to find heavy smoke, others attacked the fire with a hose line as flames came out of a back window.

As they kept searching, they found someone inside and pulled them out quickly. The victim was eventually taken to Advocate Bromenn Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

The house was damaged by smoke, heat, water, and fire. A damage estimate is unclear. No firefighters were injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Normal Fire Department.
