UPDATE: Teen dead after stolen vehicle crashes near Glen Oak Park

A 17-year-old Peoria teenager is dead after a stolen car crashed at the entrance of Glen Oak Park.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said Denardo Williams died of severe head trauma after he was ejected from the vehicle following the crash. A 16-year-old girl also ejected suffered non life-threatening injuries.

Peoria police attempted a traffic stop on the stolen vehicle just after 1:30 a.m. Friday at Peoria and McClure. When the driver took off at a high rate of speed, the officer cut off the pursuit.

One person reportedly ran from the vehicle.

The case is under investigation.
