Legalizing recreational marijuana is still at the top of the agenda according to the newly elected Governor J.B. Pritzker.
Now the question that if it is legalized — how the the money be spent from the additional revenue?
Bradley University assistant Political Science professor, Megan Remmel, said marijuana is a sensitive topic that has many people and political parties still divided.
“Certainly recreational marijuana could be a piece of that portfolio that helps Illinois address its financial difficulty but this is a long term struggle,” said Remmel.
Many are wondering who will control how or where the money is spent?
Remmel said the state will need multiple fixes and that the potential legalization of recreational cannabis is a minute solution to a the state’s fiscal challenges.
