In today’s 25 Women in Leadership, we would like to introduce you to Human Service Center employee Cindy Gilmer.
In her own words:
“My name is Cindy Gilmer and I’m a Social Worker at the Human Service Center here in Peoria. Human Service Center is our behavior health community service center so it’s critically important that the police, the emergency departments, and the community are aware of not only our 24 hour services, but the other array of services that we offer for people with symptoms of mental illness and substance use disorder. I work with such an amazing staff at the Human Service Center who do incredible work every day. Because I know that any given time everyone is doing the best they can in that moment with that situation. But I would hope that through getting the word out somebody may know next time, ‘Oh I can use that resource, or I can call this number.’ I do this, and I have because people recover.”
