Open auditions for A Royal Remembrance, a Peoria based company that brings story characters to events, brought nerves and fun as actors worked to become fairy tale royalty
“A person that is auditioning and will make a good character is someone that has a lot of energy, is able to think quickly because the children always ask us a lot of questions. We have to answer those questions even if you don’t know the answer, you have to make it up as that character,” A Royal Remembrance Owner Tara Shane said.
For their auditions actors had to sing a song, preform a monologue and learn a dance routine to see if they could breathe life into these characters right here in Central Illinois.
“I’ve been to Florida, I’ve been to Disney World and I didn’t know if I’d ever be able to go back and work there. So it was really exciting to find out there was a company I could work with in my backyard,” Actor Lea Hulsey said.
The company works primarily with birthday parties to create a world full of magic for those who still believe in it.
“I started with children’s theater so I know what it’s like to be on the other side of it, to interact with performers. As a young person it’s so much more exciting. So, I’d love to spread that magic to other generations like they did for me,” Hulsey said
