It should be summer out there, so a local group is ready to collect fans for the needy.
The Salvation Army is hoping to deliver box fans June 17-20 to families that need them in McLean County.
They’re asking for new or gently used fans, or even monetary donations.
Last year, they gave out some 300 fans.
“It’s really dependent on what support we can get. And I know the need is there, even though it’s been a little bit cooler this year, so far. We know, in Illinois it could be over 100. So, I’m really hoping the community will step up,” said Angie Bubon, of the Salvation Army Bloomington. “In the past, especially the past couple of years as our budget has been shrinking,we’ve seen that we haven’t had enough fans to meet the need. So, we’re really hoping the community will step up so that we can get a fan to everyone who needs one.”
The goal is to assist the seniors or those with medical needs first.
The fan distribution will take place at their Family Services office 611 West Washington Street in Bloomington.
You’ll need a photo ID and proof that you live in McLean County.
