LASALLE COUNTY (WEEK) - Mourners gathered in LaSalle County Friday to remember Illinois State University graduate student Jelani Day close to where his body was discovered last month.

Family and friends released balloons into the sky near the Illinois and Michigan Canal on the south side of LaSalle.

Day disappeared from the Twin-Cities in late August before his body was found in the Illinois River.

The 25-year old man's death is still a mystery.

Bloomington Police and the FBI are among several police agencies investigating what happened to him.

Friday's balloon release came a day after ISU hosted a memorial service for Day at Redbird Arena.

Saturday, the tributes continue in Day's hometown of Danville. The Omega Psi Phi fraternity will hold a memorial service at 10 a.m., to be followed by a Celebration of Life service at 12 p.m. Both events will be held at Danville High School.
