IDPH: Over 19k new COVID-19 cases since Oct. 1

SPRINGFIELD (WEEK) -- The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting 19,244 new cases of COVID-19 -- along with 209 new deaths -- since Friday, October 1.

Of the total population of Illinois, 69% have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose. 54% of the total population is fully vaccinated, according to an IDPH release.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 1,650,108 cases and 25,224 deaths.

Since reporting last Friday, laboratories have reported 903,198 specimens for a total of 32,938,108.  As of last night, 1,653 individuals in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19.  Of those, 412 patients were in the ICU and 209 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from October 1-7, 2021 is 2.1%.  The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from October 1-7, 2021 is 2.6%. 

A total of 14,822,824 vaccines have been administered in Illinois as of last midnight.  The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is 35,898 doses.  Since reporting on Friday, October 1, 2021, 251,287 doses were reported administered in Illinois.
