UPDATE: Peoria Police release photos of pickup truck involved in fatal shooting

UPDATE (9:30 p.m.) - Peoria Police are distributing photos of a pickup truck involved in the fatal shooting of a 19-year old man at Stop N' Save in the 800 block of NE Jefferson.

Police said in a news release they responded about 6:05 p.m. to a ShotSpotter alert that multiple shots had been fired.

Police said the young man was found dead inside the store.

Detectives believe the truck that left the scene is a blue 2012 Chevy Silverado that was previously reported stolen with the license plate number 1413403B.

Police said the truck has aftermarket chrome and a bed cover.

Police warned the occupants of the truck are considered armed and dangerous. "Do not approach, please call 911 immediately," police said.

This is Peoria's 23rd homicide this year.

Anyone with information about the shooting, or in possession of camera footage that might help investigators, is asked to call Detective Jake Beck at 309-494-8480.

The CrimeStoppers organization is accepting anonymous tips at 309-673-9000.


UPDATE (8:55 p.m.) - Peoria Police Chief Eric Echevarria described the killing as senseless, and said young people need to respect life.

"This is another senseless killing. We have to be done with this violence. This is enough. Young men and women on the streets of Peoria - there's no respect for life. We have to start getting back to respecting life," the chief said.


UPDATE (7:50 p.m) - A 19-year old man was killed in a shooting Monday evening at Stop N' Save in the 800 block of NE Jefferson, said Peoria Police Chief Eric Echevarria.

Police expect to release information soon about the suspect's vehicle.


PEORIA (WEEK) - A large police presence was seen outside a Peoria convenience store Monday night because of an apparent shooting.

Police were at Stop N' Save in the 800 block of NE Jefferson. Police put up crime scene tape over a two-to-three block area. A 25 News crew saw shell casings, and the glass door to the business was shattered.

Police were not providing details about what happened.
