PEORIA (WEEK) -- Afterschool and summer programs will cease to be offered by FamilyCore, effective September 30.
The organization said this was done after a thorough evaluation and that other services fill the need, according to a release.
“It is difficult to close our After School/Summer program,” said FamilyCore CEO Ann Lading-Ferguson, “but all are in agreement that is it is the right decision for FamilyCore, our clients and the community."
"With other entities providing the same assistance, this duplication of services, along with staffing issues, contributed to the decision.”
The programs, which have been in existence for 23 years, served an average of 70 youth a year.
