MOSSVILLE (WEEK)- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administrations reports thousands of drivers between the ages of 15-20 years old are involved in fatal motor accidents.
The Tire Rack Street Survival teaches young drivers to be safer on the road. In the event that an accident occurs, the driver will have learned techniques to de-escalate the situation.
"Today with what they're going to experience in eight hours as far as all the maneuvers their going to do, their probably not going to get that in their first three years of driving on the road. So, it teaches them basic muscle memory," said Rick Largen, Chairman of the Peoria Chapter.
The workshop helps students learn about emergency braking, skid control and overall vehicle control. Students drive their own cars to allow skills to directly translate to their driving experience.
