TAZEWELL COUNTY (WEEK) - Daniel Allbritton, 53, was sentenced to 37 years in prison on Thursday.
The Washington man previously plead guilty on Aug. 5 to first-degree murder in the death of a Morton man in 2019.
The victim, John Tyler, was initially reported missing in early December of 2019, but a jogger found his body just before Christmas in a wooded area near Schmidgall Road in rural Tazewell County. Tyler, who was from Morton, died from blunt force trauma, according to the coroner.
A forensic scientist's report indicated blood samples taken from Allbritton's car and garage contained Tyler's DNA.
The 37 year sentencing is one year shorter than what the The Tazewell County State's Attorney's office recommended.
